Islamabad: Pakistan’s commitment to large infrastructure projects with China, such as the Babusar Top Tunnel that would connect Naran to Gilgit-Baltistan, has been reaffirmed by Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan. This declaration was made in the wake of his trip to Beijing.
During his visit, Khan participated in an international conference and met with China’s Minister of Transport, Li Xiaopeng. Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, along with senior officials, was also present at the meeting. Their discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations through the development of four key infrastructure projects.
The highlight of these projects is the Kaghan-Naran to Babusar Top tunnel, which is designed to simplify travel across the mountainous region, improving access and connectivity. Other significant projects under discussion include the ML-1 railway project, the M-6 motorway, and the M-9 motorway. These projects can serve as backbone for modernizing Pakistan’s transportation system.
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) “missing link” must be completed, according to Abdul Aleem Khan, who also noted that these infrastructural projects will significantly increase connectivity between China and Pakistan. In addition, he emphasized that future collaboration is crucial in the second phase of the Karakoram Highway.
This growing partnership between Pakistan and China is expected to fast-track the development of crucial infrastructure, enhancing both economic ties and regional connectivity.
It is expected that this relationship between China and Pakistan will result in the building of project infrastructure, strengthening regional connectivity and economic ties between two countries.
