Lahore: The Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the housing schemes for the poor families on October 22 under the scheme of “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar“.
According to recent news, during a special meeting, the Chief Minister received a detailed briefing on the progress. She was told that the recipients of the first loan installment in lahore, kasur, and other districts have already started construction on their homes only two months after. Punjab CM instructed the authorities to ensure the timely release of the second loan installment, emphasizing that every eligible individual should receive their rightful loan. To streamline the process, she revealed that Assistant Commissioners have been appointed as focal persons in each district to assist applicants.
Chief Minister Maryam also pledged to track the progress of the program herself using a dashboard. She also made Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin responsible for the field execution of the project. Earlier in the day officials told the Chief Minister that over 550,000 people had logged into the programs portal and some 450,000 applications had been lodged under the scheme. Other officials who attended the meeting include Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Provincial Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Secretary Housing Asadullah Khan, Principal Secretary Sajid Zafar Dal, DG PHATA Saif Anwar Jappa.
It is an extremely bold initiative and another great leap for the government in its mission to supply low income housing, again proving its social and economic will for the overall betterment of all Punjab.
