CM’s Kisan Card Distribution Process Begins in Attock

The Punjab government officially launched the distribution of Chief Minister’s Kisan Cards in the districts of Attock and Hafizabad on September 9. Under this farmer-friendly project, the government will provide interest-free loans worth PKR 75 billion to 500,000 farmers (Kisan) across the province.

In Hafizabad, the distribution was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzaq at a ceremony held at the District Complex. The first Kisan Card was handed over to President Awami Mahaz Hafizabad, Rana Khalid Mehmood, with many other farmers also receiving their cards. Senior officials, including Deputy Director Agriculture Muhammad Yousaf and Agriculture Officer Faraz Ahmad, were present. Abdul Razzaq highlighted that the Kisan Cards will help boost per-acre yields and improve the socio-economic conditions of farmers, ensuring a fair distribution process.

In Attock, Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza led the ceremony, where 1,200 Kisan Cards had already been issued, with a target of 27,122 cards for the district. The program enables farmers to access agricultural inputs such as fertilizers, pesticides, and registered seeds at subsidized rates. They can also benefit from solar tube wells, tractors, and low-interest loans.

Farmers in both districts will be eligible for interest-free loans of PKR 30,000 per acre, with a maximum of PKR 150,000 for those with up to 5 acres. Dr. Mohammad Javaid, Director of Agriculture, mentioned that the Kisan Card distribution centers are equipped with the necessary facilities for Pakistani farmers and that the registration process is progressing smoothly.

It is a very encouraging and positive step to modernize agriculture in Punjab, making farming more profitable and accessible, ultimately contributing to Pakistan’s agricultural growth.
