In Islamabad, Japan’s government has promised to give around $9.8 million more for two projects in Pakistan.
These two projects are
- “Installation of Weather Surveillance Radar in Sukkur City”
- “Extension of Maternal and Child Health Care Facilities in Sindh.”
The first project is about setting up a special radar for checking the weather in Sukkur City. The second project aims to improve health care for mothers and children in Sindh by extending facilities.
The prime objectives of these initiatives are to improve and excel the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD’s) capabilities in weather observation and forecasting and to support medical services at the Liaquat University Hospital in Hyderabad/Jamshoro, Sindh.
Officials from both countries attended a ceremony to sign agreements for these projects. The plan for the maternal and child health care facility was first announced in August 2021. It aims to create a new center at Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences in Jamshoro, with departments and facilities focused on pregnancy and children’s health.
