In Karachi, the Sindh government has officially relocated all intercity bus stands in Karachi to the Super Highway bus terminal, officially anounced in recent reports.
Following this decision, action was taken against 267 unauthorized bus terminals, and 35 buses were temporarily impounded for non-compliance. These buses were later released after owners agreed to follow to the new rules and regulations. Authorities have warned that repeated violations could result in the cancellation of route permits.
The update came during a meeting chaired by Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi, with participation from officials of the Transport Department and Traffic Police.
Bus stands previously located in areas such as Saddar, MA Jinnah Road, Cantt Station, and Qayyumabad have been shut down. A free shuttle service has been introduced to transport passengers to the Super Highway terminal.
