CM Punjab Expands Kissan Card Network, introduces Free Tractors, Laser Levelers, Subsidies

Gujrat: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the expansion of the Kissan Card program on Monday, providing farmers in Punjab with free tractors, laser levelers, and several new subsidies. This news was reported on October 29.

Speaking at an event in Hafizabad, CM Maryam shared that, in the past six months, the government has started 10 farmer-support projects worth PKR 400 billion. For the first time, Kissan Cards worth PKR 150 billion have been given out, providing crucial financial help to farmers. She also announced plans to increase the number of Kissan Card recipients from 0.5 million to 0.75 million. Farmers growing wheat on 12.5 to 25 acres will receive free laser levelers, and those with over 25 acres will get free tractors. Additionally, farmers can rent agricultural machinery without extra fees, and 3,000 outlets across Punjab will support Kissan Card services.

The Chief Minister encouraged farmers to stay positive, assuring them of government support. Interest in the Kissan Card program has even spread beyond Punjab to other provinces.

CM Maryam expressed hope for a better future in Punjab, with stability replacing unrest and inflation. “Punjab is changing rapidly, moving from division to unity,” she said, adding that Nawaz Sharif’s government is committed to economic improvement.

The CM also announced plans to switch 7,000 diesel and electric tubewells to solar power, reducing costs for farmers. She mentioned that prices of seeds and fertilizers are dropping, meaning more profits for farmers.

Former minister Saira Afzal Tarar added that the Kissan Card allows farmers to buy seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides at subsidized rates, with a PKR 150,000 limit per card.
