New ‘Natural Gas’ Found at Uch-35 in Dera Bugti, Announces OGDCL

Quetta: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has discovered a new gas source at the Uch-35 well in Dera Bugti, Balochistan. This marks a significant milestone for the company and the national energy sector.

The news was shared through a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). OGDCL drilled the Uch-35 well to a depth of 1,345 metres in the productive Sui Main Limestone (SML) formation. The initial output is expected to be 5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas.

To bring this gas online quickly, OGDCL installed a 1.2-kilometre, 8-inch flow line linking Uch-35 to the Uch Gas Processing Plant. This connection ensures a consistent gas flow to Uch Power Limited (UPL). OGDCL is the sole stakeholder and operator of the Uch Development & Production Lease, reinforcing its strategic role in Balochistan’s energy sector.

OGDCL stated its commitment to “synchronised exploration, drilling, and development” to boost national production. The company’s efforts aim to meet Pakistan’s energy demand and strengthen energy security. The success at Uch-35 highlights OGDCL’s dedication to optimising domestic hydrocarbon resources with innovation and resilience.
