The National Highway Authority (NHA) is preparing for major road upgrades. The Margalla Highway extension will connect directly to the M-1 Motorway. In Lahore, two new bypasses are planned: one on the Kala Shah Kaku-Multan Road and another linking Sagian to Ravi Bridge.
Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan proposed electronic toll plazas for highways. These systems will use electronic tags for toll collection, reducing queues and travel time. Vehicles can pass without stopping, aligning with global transport trends for smoother and more efficient road travel.
The NHA also plans to expand the Lahore-Sialkot and Kharian-Islamabad Motorways from four lanes to six. This expansion will handle more traffic and provide safer, quicker travel for commuters.
These projects show the government’s commitment to modernizing road infrastructure and improving travel across the country.
